Powell Peralta McGill Skull and Snake Reissue Skateboard Deck Red

Note that a red deck was released in 2005 also. The differences between the two are the shape, size and concave of the decks. Refer to the specs of each.

The Skull & Snake graphic was first created for Mike McGill in 1984 by the infamous Powell-Peralta artist VCJ (Vernon Courtland Johnson). The sketch you see in the background is one of many early concepts Court drew before the graphic was finalized. Some had horns, some had flowers, there’s even one that has the snake coming out of the skull’s eye socket. Here’s what Mike had to say about it:

“Originally the skull graphic designed by VCJ had demon horns on it, which were axed right away by me and changed to a lightning bolt halo, since I grew up in Florida where there’s lots of lightning. We also added the rattle snake because there’s plenty of them there too, and they are a mystical creature to me.” – cheers, Mike
