In the words of Mike Vallely:

“This was the shape that changed skateboard shapes forever. Prior to this board every skateboard had a distinct shape but this was the first symmetrical pro model skateboard (or at the least the one that everyone remembers) and it became the blueprint for todays popsicle shaped skate decks. I knew that skateboarding was changing and that the skateboards we were riding at the time had their limits. A new style of skating was coming and I wanted a board shape that represented that change. From that the Barnyard was born.”
