What Santa Cruz has to say:
The @Salba tiger is one of Salba’s most classic graphics and was inspired by the music Salba was listening to at the time. The band “Panther Burn” took its name from stories dating back to the 1800’s where a fields was burned to clear way for crops and to rid themselves of panthers that were terrifying the people of the south. Legend has it that panthers were running from burn pile to burn pile seeking shelter. Salba told Jim Phillips about the idea and they made the switch from panther to tiger since Salba already had a tiger tattoo and it made it more personal. In true Phillips fashion, he nailed it. Taking pieces from the witch doctor graphic and adding them in to keep the nose of the board it helped to make the tiger a natural evolution of graphics.
