Another year of covid brought about an increase in the resale value of decks. Some collector’s starting clearing out boards feeling like they’ll never get to see these prices again. Meanwhile flippers went nuts on reissues, selling them online for double the retail price before the shops even ran out of stock.
Natas Blind Bags took centre stage and became one of the hottest properties in skateboard collecting. It’s like a lucky dip for collectors, each hoping to snag the one off vintage or get one of the limited editions.
An Ozzy Osbourne x Dogtown Skateboards collaboration was also hot property, with both the limited release and general release selling out quickly.
There were new Star Wars and Marvel releases, plenty of reissues, a Hawk x Hosoi deck (Hawsoi) and more.
The award for strangest deck of the year though has to go to the Liquid Death x Tony Hawk Skateboard. With Tony Hawk’s actual blood mixed in with the paint on every deck, it became a strange, twisted instant hit. You have to love what he’ll do for charities.
