History of Santa Cruz Skateboards

What originally started as a surf brand by three friends has turned into one of the longest running and best known skate companies in the world. Rich Novak, Doug Haut and Jay Shuirman (NHS) made their first skateboards in 1973. The decks were made from materials they had lying around to make surfboards.

Iconic Graphics

The artwork associated with the brand is instantly recognizable. Jim Phillips 'Screaming Hand' is just one example, the red dot another. If you see the Roskopp Face graphics, you instantly know which pro model it is. There are countless examples that have stood the test of time and even become entrenched in pop culture.

With brand new colorways, many try to complete entire sets with the same artwork.
