Santa Cruz x Star Wars Yoda 8.0″ Skateboard Deck
The Santa Cruz x Star Wars Yoda 8.0″ Skateboard Deck was released as part of wave 3 of the collaboration. Two versions were released, the Collectors Edition and the Shred Ready.
The Collectors Edition skateboard came in a vintage toy inspired blister pack and was limited to 3,000. The decks were laser etched with their number, and had a matching laser cut certificate of authenticity and deck art poster. The packaging had a card back with all the decks to collect. These editions were sold-out almost instantly. According to the Santa Cruz Skateboards Art Director Lucas Musgrave, the packs themselves cost more than the skateboards. The idea however was to do something out there, and they definitely nailed that. This was definitely a skateboard you put on display.
The Shred Ready Santa Cruz x Star Wars Yoda edition features the same artwork, but without all the collectors items. So there was no laser etching or other add-ons. The Shred Ready were designed to be at a more reasonable price. If you wanted to shred a Yoda deck, this was the way to go at the time.
The decks were released in late 2014 and are now one of the most coveted amongst collectors.
